If you suddenly feel sick or are severely injured, immediately call 119. An ambulance will take you to a medical center without any charge. The Ministry of Health and Welfare designates the emergency medical centers per area, which meet relatively high quality standards in terms of human resources, equipment and facilities.
National Health Insurance is the social security system that prevents citizens from suffering from excessive medical expenses caused by diseases or injuries by allowing citizens to share each other’s risk and get the medical services they need using insurance benefits. To this end, the citizens pay the insurance premium on a regular basis and the National Health Insurance Corporation, the insurer, manages and operates the insurance premium paid by citizens. When citizens need insurance benefits, the National Health Insurance Corporation provides the benefits.
